Since its formation in 2014, Erdling has become one of the leading figures in German-language dark metal. The sound of the quartet, organized around frontman Neill Freiwald, cannot be easily categorized, as they do not shy away from either crushing or emotionally charged moments. They are continuing the tour for their seventh album, Mana, which is dense in atmosphere and strong in concept, and are bringing it to Budapest this year. 

Up-and-coming Johnny Tupolev will join Erdling as a special guest on the tour and will kick off the evening. The three-piece band combines the energy of classic rock 'n' roll with the momentum of modern rock.

BAEST brings its “Ozzy death metal” sound to Dürer Kert

The Danish band BAEST is one of Europe’s most promising metal acts, and with their album Colossal, released last year, they made a huge leap toward international recognition. Their explosive, often genre-bending music is described simply as “Ozzy death metal” and we’ll soon be able to hear exactly what that means live on September 24 at Dürer Kert.

The Danish five-piece was formed in Aarhus in 2015, and has evolved from an emerging death metal act into a boundary-pushing band that bridges multiple genres. Their discography includes Danse Macabre (2018), Venenum (2019), Necro Sapiens (2021), and last year’s Colossal (2025), which brought them their breakthrough. The album, produced by Tue Madsen (The Haunted), earned international acclaim for its blend of classic heavy metal, rock-driven energy, and progressive elements. Metal Hammer Germany even named Colossal “Album of the Month,” calling it a “colossal achievement.”

BAEST’s reputation is largely built on their overwhelming live performances. They haven’t been sitting still: the band has played more than 350 shows and shared the stage with acts such as Arch Enemy, Fit For An Autopsy, Krisiun, Abbath, and Entombed A.D., among many others. They have also performed at festivals including Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock, Kaltenbach, and Copenhell.

Their growing international reputation is further proven by the fact that their songs have been streamed millions of times, and they have received several professional accolades, including five GAFFA Awards (one of Scandinavia’s most prestigious music awards). With Colossal, BAEST has stepped beyond genre boundaries, creating what they call “Ozzy death metal”: a catchy, riff-driven yet often boundary-pushing sound.

In recent years, BAEST has become one of Scandinavia’s most innovative and promising metal bands, and now it’s time for audiences “down south” to pay closer attention. From Monday to Thursday, the city is getting filled with beer-related and professional events (tap takeovers, meet the brewer events, expo day, opening party), with the main, unlimited TASTING SESSIONS (with after parties) on the 21st and 22nd of May at Dürer Kert and the ENCORE day on the 23rd of May on the very same spot!

Formed in 2007 in New York, Krallice is one of the most influential avant-garde black metal bands of the past decade and a half. From the very beginning, the quartet—comprising Colin Marston, Mick Barr, Nick McMaster, and Lev Weinstein—has pushed the boundaries of the genre: their music is at once brutal and precisely constructed, technical yet instinctive. The band’s early work was more strongly tied to traditional Norwegian black metal, but later they increasingly developed their own, hard-to-categorize sound.

Their debut album, Krallice, immediately garnered significant critical acclaim, followed by albums such as Dimensional Bleedthrough, Diotima, and Years Past Matter—the latter considered by many to be a seminal work of modern black metal. The band continued to push the boundaries of their own style on their subsequent releases.

Following their sold-out concert on a boat earlier this year, HÆNESY will take the stage again on October 23, 2026, to return with a production that is more comprehensive than ever before and marks the beginning of a new era. The band will present its latest full-length album, *Esentia*—set for release in the fall of 2026 via Fractions of Life Records—with the stable, proven lineup that has been in place since 2021’s *Garabontzia*.

The new songs will not be presented as a separate set but will be organically woven into the show: the material from ‘Esentia’ will run throughout the concert, gradually integrating into the existing structures—thus blending new and older tracks into a unified yet constantly evolving soundscape. This evening is not a classic concert experience, but rather an intense, multi-layered musical journey, where the sound and visual elements work in harmony to create an otherworldly atmosphere.

Formed in Szeged in 2017 but now based in the capital, BORU has been forging its own path for nearly a decade on the border between sludge, doom, and post-metal, consistently making their sound unmistakable through avant-garde experimentation and a unsettling atmosphere drawn from motifs of Hungarian film and folklore. The backbone of their first club concert of the year will be material from their latest full-length album, *SELF-DEALER*, released in 2024, supplemented by guest musicians and perhaps even a few new songs that haven’t been heard yet.

Their performance explores the question of how we perceive reality from various perspectives: through what filters do we view the world around us, and to what extent can our own truths be considered objective? Slowly unfolding, weighty themes and eerie, cinematic soundscapes come together in a performance that is both unsettling and captivating. It is not merely a succession of songs, but a dense, swirling sonic journey where noise, silence, and constant transformation are all part of the same kaleidoscopic whole.

After nearly a year and a half, BLACK PARTICLES—a band that defies categorization and is compulsively, yet not self-servingly, labeled simply as “post-everything”—is once again performing a club concert. The backbone of the Budapest-based quartet’s set will consist of new songs written during this period, as well as selected tracks from their album *a path in entropy*, which was released on vinyl this spring and sold out in just a few hours.

As an instrumental band, they speak the language of dynamics to address scientific and philosophical questions: both the fragile, floating silence and the listener are engulfed by a performance of elemental power, built from the fundamental elements of black/voidgaze, post-rock, and metal. This sweeping stage production is currently one of the most exciting and visceral concert experiences in the Hungarian underground scene.

𝗜𝗔𝗠𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗞’s concerts with a full band have always focused on specific eras or albums. This time, however - for the first time in his career spanning more than a decade - he will perform at Dürer Kert on November 7 in a trio lineup with a special concert spanning his entire body of work.

The evening is tied to the 10th anniversary of 𝙃𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙚𝙩𝙝, but it’s not just about that album: the setlist will take you on a journey through 𝗜𝗔𝗠𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗞’s worlds to date, from early material to later albums, featuring tracks that are rarely heard and take on new energy when performed live. The renewed Haken returns to Budapest.

Haken are one of the most exciting bands in progressive metal, known for their epic songs and breathtaking live performances. The band last played a sold-out show in Budapest in 2023, and on September 29 they return to Dürer Kert with a renewed lineup.
Earlier this year, Haken announced the departure of guitarist 
Charlie Griffiths and bassist Conner Green from the band. 

Alongside the news of the split, they also revealed that new music would be arriving soon. Now they have released their first new song, titled In a Fever Dream. The track is the band’s first new material since their 2023 album Fauna. The song was produced by George Lever, who has also worked with Loathe and Sleep Token.
In a Fever Dream perfectly captures the atmospheric yet technically sophisticated sound that has become the band’s trademark, while also signaling the start of a new chapter. This fall, Haken will take this new era on stage across Europe, performing new compositions alongside their classics. Formed in 1986, the legendary Mexican death metal band Cenotaph - one of the pioneers of devastating Latin American metal - will flood Dürer Kert with their dark, raw and truly authentic old-school death metal. Following their EPs from the 1980s, they perfected their sound with four albums in the 1990s and early 2000s; whilst their music became increasingly intense, their lyrics delved into ever deeper themes and concepts. The band has been active again since 2023 with a new line-up, touring and playing festivals non-stop; whilst preparing their new album, they’re heading to Europe, where they won’t stop wreaking havoc until they reach the Killtown Deathfest.

Cryptworm (UK)

Founded in 2014 by Tibor Hanyi and Joe Knight, Cryptworm is undoubtedly one of the most active and most rotten acts on the international underground death metal scene of the past decade. Not to mention that the band, with its Hungarian roots, is also one of the most exciting and groundbreaking in the underground scene. Following their highly successful second album and an extensive tour, their third full-length album has been released via Me Saco Un Ojo Records and Extremely Rotten Productions; it’s more vicious and rotten than ever, pushing the boundaries of the genre even further in terms of extremity.

VÉR

The first Hungarian support act will be VÉR, who play Kripta-style death metal. Their relentless, old-school death metal grinds away like a living-dead machine as they march forward. The band are also signed to Me Saco Un Ojo Records; following the international festival season, they’re about to embark on a European album-launch tour, but until then, you’ll be able to hear plenty of new tracks from their forthcoming full-length album, which is currently in its final stages of production.

RETORSION

The second local support act, Retorsion - the Hungarian voice of Repulsion, those senseless, raging, corpse-devouring grindcore beasts - will also be making an appearance at the gig. Having recently toured America and Europe with their album, released by Headsplit Records amongst others, they show no signs of slowing down - quite the opposite, in fact. Guaranteed to leave you rotting alive amidst mountains of neck-breaking blast beats.

Lebanon Hanover are an ice cold reply to the alienated world coming from two warm beating hearts. Larissa Iceglass and WilliamMaybelline appear as true romantics of the modern age, admiring William Wordsworth, fascinated by the beauty of art nouveau aesthetics, exploring British seashores and forests at night, whilst being inspired by the urbanism of Berlin.

The duo first connected through Last.fm in the late 2000s before meeting in Sunderland, England in 2010. Their early recordings were created in a highly DIY environment, shaped by minimal production and an intentional raw aesthetic. Their music draws from 1980s post-punk and cold wave traditions, influenced by artists such as Xmal Deutschland, DAF, Kraftwerk, Malaria!, and Trisomie 21. 

The band’s creative process is guided more by instinct than formal planning, with an emphasis on preserving original recordings and maintaining a sense of immediacy in their sound. Since their debut, Lebanon Hanover have consistently worked with a minimalist production philosophy, avoiding excessive polishing in favor of retaining the original texture of each recording. Their lyrics often reference literature and explore recurring themes such as love, death, and existential reflection.

Hitori are a Midwest emo trio from Pest County, blending math rock, hardcore and pop-punk.

Since 2022, they’ve released three EPs, with which they’ve been touring the country’s major university towns, building an increasingly large and diverse live and online following on the underground scene. They’ve supported Touché Amore and Delta Sleep, played at Fishing on Orfű, and have graced the main stage at Dürer Kert on several occasions.

Their latest album, *Ez egy ilyen hely, ez egy ilyen furcsa év*, was released in September 2024. Alongside the technical guitar playing, intensely shifting rhythms and polyphonic melodies that have become the band’s trademark, the album further develops the band’s unique sound using a deeper range of musical tools.

One of the most influential post-punk and gothic rock bands, The Mission, will return to Budapest on May 9 for a magical evening, bringing their cathartic songs to Hungarian fans once again. The band are also set to release new music next year after a decade-long break, so the set may well include previews of fresh material alongside the classics.

The Mission formed in Leeds in 1986 after Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams left The Sisters of Mercy. They were joined by guitarist Simon Hinkler and drummer Mick Brown, and the resulting line-up quickly established a strong following among fans of post-punk and gothic rock. Their richly layered sound and atmospheric guitar work are paired with Hussey’s emotional, haunting vocals, creating a catalogue of truly anthemic songs.
Their debut album, God’s Own Medicine, was released in the same year the band formed and featured such hits as “Wasteland” and “Severina”, immediately thrusting the group into the spotlight. Its follow-up, Children (1988), produced by Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, further cemented their reputation. Their songs often explore themes of love, loss and existential introspection, earning them a large and devoted fan base over the years.
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the band enjoyed an especially prolific period. Carved in Sand showcased their increasingly refined sound and included enduring favourites such as “Butterfly on a Wheel” and the live staple “Deliverance”. By the mid-1990s, however, tensions had developed between the band members, leading to their temporary split in 1996.

Despite these challenges, The Mission reunited in the new millennium, released three albums and embarked on several successful tours, proving that they could evolve while remaining true to their roots. Their concerts remain powerful and passionate to this day, and with their rich musical legacy and lasting influence on goth and alternative rock, The Mission remain an important force in music four decades on.

The band have toured extensively since the Covid era and, following several postponements, played two electrifying shows in Hungary in 2023. Now, on May 9, they will return to Budapest, potentially with new material in tow. Tickets go on sale at 11am on September 3 via livenation.hu and funcode.hu.

The band, which will be 15 years old next year, blends metal, hardcore, post-rock and screamo, blending them with experimental instruments and techniques, as well as a good dose of noise, to create an unmistakable, brutal yet beautiful end result, which, live, naturally tears through anyone who stands in its way even more mercilessly.

It will be no different at their October gig in the small venue, where, amongst other things, the tracks from last year’s *From the Bonfire* will be given a new, more personal interpretation.

Their music brings together industrial sounds, monumental choral arrangements, martial rhythms and classical music, while their work repeatedly explores questions of power, propaganda, ideology and mass culture. 

Laibach was formed in 1980 in Trbovlje, Slovenia, and from the very beginning operated more as an artistic collective than a conventional band. Their music brings together industrial sounds, monumental choral arrangements, martial rhythms and classical music, while their work repeatedly explores questions of power, propaganda, ideology and mass culture. During the Yugoslav era, their provocative aesthetic led to them being banned in Slovenia, while albums such as Nova Akropola, Opus Dei, their reinterpretation of the Beatles’ Let It Be, Kapital, NATO, WAT and Volk, their reimagining of national anthems, established their international reputation. Their work deliberately appropriates and reinterprets existing cultural, political and musical elements, and in 1983 they coined and defined the term “retro-avant-garde.”

On May 1 this year, Laibach released their latest album, MUSICK, which simultaneously celebrates and critiques a contemporary culture increasingly shaped by AI, where the boundaries between reality and imitation are becoming increasingly blurred. Musically, the album also draws on contemporary pop, K-pop and ’90s Eurodance.
