ROME (LX)

ROME is the main music project of Luxembourgish singer-songwriter Jerome Reuter formed in 2005. Jerome Reuter is a tireless creator, an overly creative mind with immense musical output. With "Parlez-vous Hate?", the 15th studio album with his project ROME was released in 2021, but the 16th album is already scheduled for November. One thing is for sure, we can get an insight into a vast and exciting oeuvre at the ROME concert on 4th December at Dürer Kert. ROME often deals with historical and weighty topics in his lyrics, larding them with set pieces from world literature. There are quotations from Brecht to Jünger, from Camus to Celine, from Burroughs to London. At the same time, Reuter does not shy away from tackling delicate, highly topical subjects with a healthy dose of sarcasm and ambiguity. ROME describes its style as "dark folk", or "chanson noir". The band's own style mixes various musical traditions: The chanson of his declared idols Jacques Brel and Léo Ferré, sometimes also meets cool rock and wave influences such as those of Joy Division and New Model Army. On his latest album "The Lone Furrow", the Luxembourger with the sonorous voice returns from no-wave folk to the martial neo-folk of his roots. Reuter's songs - mostly as parts of genre-spanning concept albums - can convince live, intellectuals, Wacken disciples, goths and punks. Over the years, ROME has gained a dedicated fan base all over the country. ROME is devoted to a unique artistic vision, stands on the side of the outsiders and is an ambassador of melancholy through elegiac anthems reminiscent of protest songs. The new album will be released in November 2022!
