The final guest of this year’s kis szoba series is Góbé! The band was formed in 2007 by students at the Béla Bartók Conservatoire in Budapest, and from the very beginning they have taken an experimental approach to authentic folk music. They take their cue from Hungarian folk songs, but boldly blend them with rock, blues, reggae, jazz, hip-hop and other musical influences, giving rise to their own distinctive fusion folk sound. After nearly two decades, more than a thousand concerts and tours across half of Europe, this December they’ll be showing, even in this small venue, what happens when folk music steps outside its traditional boundaries.
